Welcome to Progress Energy Carolina's Renewable Request for Proposals (RFP) web page. As part of our balanced solution in meeting the future energy needs of our growing region, we are seeking information on the availability of renewable and alternative electric generation. At this site, you will find information related to our Request for Proposals for Renewable Power Resources including news releases, bidding deadlines, frequently asked questions, documents required for bidding, and general communications pertaining to the RFP. The RFP is an ongoing request designed to meet the needs of multiple long term planning requirements. Information will be posted to this site from time to time, and interested parties are encouraged to check frequently for updates.

Bidding Deadline:

Bids provided to Progress Energy Carolinas prior to July 1, 2008 will be considered in the current 2008 Planning Period. Priority will be given to those projects with anticipated commercial operation date in 2008 where the owner/developer has site control.

All bids received July 1, 2008 or after will be considered in the next planning period ("2009 Planning Period"). The 2009 Planning Period proposal deadline is November 11, 2008. It is anticipated that bidders will be notified by March 1, 2009 of Progress Energy Carolina's intent to enter further discussions (shortlist).

For the 2009 Planning Period, solar bids with nameplate capacity of 50 kW or greater, or non-solar bids with nameplate capacity of 10 MW or less will be accepted. Priority will be given to those proposals with an anticipated commercial operation date prior to 2011.
