- Sales Tax Exemption (6 percent to 7 percent): The Florida Legislature created a permanent sales tax exemption for solar energy installations in 2005.
- State of Florida Solar Systems Incentive Program: The state of Florida offers rebates for the installation of solar water heaters. Simply follow their qualifying standards and mail in your completed rebate application. You can download rebate forms from www.floridaenergy.org.
- Federal Energy Tax Credit: The Federal Tax Credit, 30 percent of the installed system cost, can be deducted directly from the taxes you owe. The credits currently apply to solar systems installed in 2006, 2007 and 2008. You claim the credit when you file your tax return for the year the system is installed.
