High-Efficiency Heat Pumps

Your customers will receive a greater return on their energy investment and save on their electric bills when they replace their electric resistance heat or standard heat pump with a new high-efficiency heat pump. A heat pump transfers or "pumps" heat from where it is not needed to where it is needed instead of manufacturing heated air like a conventional furnace. For cooling, the system absorbs heat from indoor air and transfers it outdoors.

As an Energy Star Homes Ally Partner, Progress Energy has determined that electric heat pumps with SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating) of 14.0 or greater and HSPF (Heating Seasonal Performance Factor) of at least 7.8, meet the Energy Star guidelines for energy efficiency. Progress Energy's Heat Pump Check offers an incentive to customers when they purchase a high-efficiency heat pump meeting those standards.

Heat Pump Water Heater

A heat pump water heater provides a more efficient method of water heating than conventional electric resistance water heaters. It functions similar to a heat pump air conditioning system in that it extracts heat from surrounding air and heats your water more efficiently.

Heat Pump Pool Heaters

A heat pump pool heater is one of the most cost effective methods for heating pools. In addition to saving energy and money, it provides comfortable pool water temperature all year long.

The heat pump pool heater functions much like a home's heat pump. Instead of creating heat, the heat pump pool heater recovers heat from the air and uses it to heat the water in pools and spas.

Heat Recovery Unit

A heat recovery unit is another highly efficient water heating system that can cut annual hot water costs in half compared to electric resistance water heating. The unit captures the hot vapor discharged by the central cooling system and reuses it to heat water.  They'll have the advantage of receiving free hot water as long as their cooling system is in operation.
