The second stage of protection in this layered, or staged, protection system is premium Plug-in Surge Protectors. Plug-in Surge Protectors are additional protection necessary for sensitive electronic equipment. Unlike our Meter-Based Surge Protector, which offers protection from powerful surges, our premium Plug-in Surge Protectors are designed to stop the small portion of surges that may not be blocked by the Meter-Based Surge Protector alone.
To achieve optimum protection, Progress Energy recommends that Plug-in Surge Protectors be used in conjunction with the Meter-Based Surge Protector.
