Community Colleges / Skilled Trades
Community Colleges are an integral part of supplying our workforce with Power Plant Operators, Maintenance Technicians, Line Technicians, and Welders. Our Power Careers Program targets students who are interested in gaining knowledge and hands-on experience to help run our power plants.
If you think a future in the utility industry is a right fit for you, there are several options to consider:

Finish high school

Take shop, mechanics, math, science or basic electronic classes if available

Earn a two-year technical or community college with a craft/technical concentration

Earn certification from a specialty program - ex. Main Maritime, Southeastern Lineman Training Center, Nash Community College Lineman Program

Gain experience through the armed forces (PAYS program - U.S. Army)
