Progress Energy Florida plans to improve the transmission line in the Ocoee area and other nearby communities in west Orange County.

Crews will replace the transmission structures and lines in Progress Energy's existing right of way. The existing wooden structures will be replaced with single steel or concrete poles, most within 10 feet of their current locations. The project covers five miles from the Ocoee substation, near Clark and White roads, to the Woodsmere substation, on Silver Star Road just west of Pine Hills Road.

Preliminary work will begin in October 2007, when crews will clear trees and install gates in existing fences along Progress Energy's right of way. Construction is scheduled to begin January 2008. The line is expected to be in service by summer 2008. Upon completion of the project, all construction material and debris will be removed, and the right of way will be restored as nearly as possible to its original condition.

If you have questions about this project, call 1-877-475-2400.
