Securing Florida's energy future through transmission improvements
Our forecasts indicate that demand for electricity in our 35-county service territory will grow by more than 25 percent in the next decade. This growth and associated energy use requires long-term planning to ensure we can meet this demand.
Progress Energy Florida has identified the potential need to add about 200 miles of transmission lines across 10 counties to maintain reliability and to move power efficiently throughout the region and state.

Progress Energy Florida is committed to a transparent process as we begin identifying specific transmission needs in the 10-county region. As part of this process, we have initiated an innovative community outreach process called the Community Partnership for Energy Planning.
Property owners whose home, business or land falls inside the areas being considered received a letter from Progress Energy. The company has identified proposed routes for the transmission lines, and we are seeking feedback from the community.
We have no public meetings scheduled at this time. Please check back for updates on informational meetings in your area.
