August 2005 Progress Energy informs NRC of plans to submit a COL for a nuclear power plant
Nov. 1, 2005 Progress Energy updates NRC that it will include a second COL, one for Florida and one for the Carolinas. Each COL covers up to two reactors at each site
January 2006 Progress Energy announces site to be used in Carolinas COL
2006 Company to announce site for Florida COL
2006 – 2008 Public meetings; site testing and evaluation; further economic modeling; company prepares COL application
February 2008 File COL application with NRC for two reactors at the Harris site
Summer 2008 File application with NRC for two reactors at the Levy County, FL site
2008 – 2011 NRC and state utilities commissions review in Carolinas and Florida
